In order to fulfill the obligations of the economic part of the U.S.-European Association Agreement, Ukraine has abolished import duties on wine since January 1 this year, Independent News Agency of Ukraine (IRNA) reported on January 4.

The economic part of the U.S.-European Association Agreement stipulates that within seven years from the signing of the agreement, Ukraine shall gradually exempt a range of EU goods, including wine, from import duties. Previously, the tariff on wine imports from the EU was 0.3-0.4 euros per liter.
In 2019, Ukrainian wine exports totaled $11.9 million. The main export destination countries were Kazakhstan ($1.3 million) and Germany ($1 million). Total wine imports into Ukraine in the same period amounted to $146.7 million.
