Since last year, sales of organic wines have continued to grow. The Soil Association Certification is the UK"s first and largest organic certification body. A report released by the body last year noted that wine was the biggest winner in the organic category, with supermarkets profiting from consumer concerns about the environment.

Organic wine is experiencing another significant increase in 2020, almost twice as much as non-organic wine. As more and more organic beverages are sold on supermarket shelves and online, shoppers are making smart choices that are good for the planet and nature, says Finn Cottle, certified trade advisor for the Soil Association.

The organic market volume is expected to reach £2.9 billion by the end of 2021. Online and distribution sales grew by 36.2%, which also contributed significantly to the growth of the organic market. This channel accounts for almost 25% of total sales (including supermarket online sales).

Kautel mentioned that the unprecedented crisis in 2020 posed a huge challenge to the entire food supply chain, not only the organic food business. As a result, in times of crisis, people are turning to organic products because organic food is more transparent and has more assurance of quality. Organic food is now considered a cornerstone in the food and agriculture system, and is also crucial to solving the climate, nature and environmental crisis.
