The Spanish wine industry has been hit hard by the New Crown epidemic, which has forced hotels and restaurants to close or restrict their opening hours, and has hit sherry sales hard.

As of October 2020, sales in the domestic market of Spanish sherry fell by more than 2 million liters, or 23%, for a total of 7.2 million liters sold, compared to 9.3 million liters in the same period last year.
Today the UK takes the top spot in sherry purchases, with a total of 7.4 million liters, an increase of 6.3 percent. Despite the 500,000 liters increase in sales to the UK, the increase in sales in the UK market is far from compensating for the low level of the Spanish domestic market.
The rebound in sales in Sherry"s traditional overseas markets has been caused in part by the approaching final resolution of Britain's departure from the European Union, as obstacles to exports to that country are expected from January next year.
In the first 10 months of 2020, sherry sales totaled 21.7 million liters, compared to 24.7 million liters in the same period last year.
