The second outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic forced the cancellation of the traditional wine tasting event in the D.O. Montilla-Moriles region of Spain, but in order to continue the tradition, the regulatory board finally decided to organize a wine tasting and tapas festival in October.

Normally, tasting events gather all the wineries in one place, so that guests and visitors can get to know the wines of the appellation. However, due to security concerns and the need to reactivate the hospitality and catering sector, the Appellation"s Regulatory Board decided to carry out this event in different hotels and restaurants in Córdoba, the capital of the Autonomous Province of Córdoba, Andalusia.
The Regulatory Commission of the production area said: "We have adapted the event to the current situation in which we find ourselves, and we do not propose to gather the public to start a wine festival, but rather to bring the wines of Montilla-Moriles to the capital, Cordoba, in a different way, and to support the recovery of the hospitality sector, which in turn increases the value of our wines.
This year, the AOC Montilla-Morillès was also included in the Penin Guide's Most Valuable Appellation list, with the third highest average score for its wines (90.73 points on average).
