During a visit to the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), Hasanga said the government plans to expand the scale of grape cultivation and that TARI intensified its research on improving grape varieties.

Although Tanzania is second only to South Africa in terms of wine quality on the continent, there are only two varieties of wine grapes grown in Tanzania, a situation that limits Tanzania"s ability to produce a wider variety of wines.
