After the regulations were enacted, local pineapple sales in South Africa increased dramatically, with daily sales and prices of pineapples tripling from what they used to be.

It is said that this is because some people have started making their own pineapple beer. Local searches related to how to make homemade pineapple beer have increased by 500%. In addition, more people are choosing to buy pineapple to protect their health because of its nutritional benefits.
