The system will be used to identify and combat the illegal use of the Amarone label or the sale of counterfeit Amarone products, in order to protect the reputation of Amarone and the interests of the wineries in the appellation.
Since 2018, the Appellation Association of Valpolicella has been working to combat the illegal practice of impersonating the Amarone name. On average, the Appellation Association spends more than 150,000 euros per year to protect the Amarone brand.
