The Brussels International Wine Competition, founded in 1994, is known as the Oscars of the wine world, and this year, more than 300 international judges from nearly 50 countries and regions judged 8,500 wines in a rigorous competition.

The six products that won the gold medal from Zhang Yu happened to come from the six wine regions laid out by Zhang Yu in Yantai, Ningxia, Beijing, Xinjiang, Shaanxi and Liaoning in China, which is also a high recognition of the important grape regions in China by the international tournament.

Last year, Mr. Baudouin Havaux, President of the Brussels International Wine Competition (CMB), visited Zhang Yu and toured the Zhang Yu Wine Culture Museum. Havaux said: "Through this visit, I felt like I stepped into a time tunnel. The entire Chinese winemaking tradition and culture permeates this historic place. While owning the tradition, Zhang Yu continues to move forward along the path of modern oenology. The award of the Brussels International Wine Competition is the best proof of this.

According to statistics, other important awards won by Changyu repeatedly at the Brussels International Wine Competition include: Koya XO Brandy won the Gold Medal at the 2015 Brussels International Spirits Competition, the Reserve Five Star Gold Medal Brandy followed by another Gold Medal in 2018, the 2018 vintage of Changyu Mosel Legend Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc at the Ningxia Changyu Mosel XV Winery and the 2016 vintage of Yantai Changyu Castel Winery Special Selection Chardonnay both won gold medals at the 2019 Brussels International Wine Competition, among others.

It is reported that the 28th edition of the Brussels International Wine Competition will be held in Yinchuan from May 22 to 24, 2021, said President Bourdouin Haver at the announcement ceremony: the most interesting emerging wine region in China is in Ningxia. In the near future, it will have reason to claim to be one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world.
