The Royal Wine Merchant BBR website recently published an article by its wine consultant Becky Austin recommending three wines for springtime sipping, in the following order: the Côtes de Bourgogne from Château Grève in Burgundy, France; the Mosel Legend Cabernet Sauvignon from Château Zhang Yu Mosel XV in Ningxia, China; and the Tempranillo from Dominical Vineyard in Lopez Redia, Rioja, Spain. The article reads: The second wine I chose was the Mosel Saga Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc made by Zhang Yu Mosel XV. I found that Chinese wines have been a hot topic of discussion lately.

As we all know, Cabernet Sauvignon is a red grape variety used to make dry red, how can it make dry white? In an interview with Decanter, the chief winemaker of Zhang Yu Mosel XV, Mr. Ross Mosel revealed that this wine is made by taking away the unpressed free run juice and using it to make Cabernet Sauvignon dry white, while the remaining fuller juice is used to make Cabernet Sauvignon dry red.
So how does the world"s first dry white made with Cabernet Sauvignon taste, the legendary Mosel Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc, described by BBR wine consultant Becky Austin as a moderately priced, very pleasant, refreshing and interesting aperitif. A lovely elderflower bouquet and a rich aromatic profile of fresh peaches suggest that this wine is much like a dry Italian Soave white, but with an acidity, body and herbal aromatic profile more akin to a dry New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, replete with pink grapefruit, lemon peel, white flowers and acai berry. A delightful array of aromas that are the perfect accompaniment to sunshine and chatting time.
Founded in 1698, BBR (Berry Bros. Rudd) has its head office at 3 St. James's Street, London, and branches in Basingstoke, England, and in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo in Asia. In 2013, BBR introduced the products of Ningxia Zhangyu Chateau Mosel XV and Liaoning Zhangyu Golden Ice Valley Ice Wine Winery for the first time, setting up a permanent sales counter. Becky Austin recommends the Mosel Legend Cabernet Sauvignon dry white, selected from new arrivals at BBR's wine library in Basingstoke, UK.
It is understood that, in addition to BBR, Zhang Yu Chateau Mosel XV's Mosel Legend Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc has also entered famous stores such as Bibendum (UK), Edeka Zentrale (Germany) and Vinorama (Switzerland). At the 22nd Berliner Wein Trophy held in February this year, the 2016 Chateau Mosel Legend Cabernet Sauvignon won the gold medal among more than 6,700 wines from all over the world, which is the first gold medal won by Chateau Zhang Yu Mosel XV in an international wine competition.
