According to Decanter, Kohler has been with the Rothschild (Lafite) group for 25 years, most recently as technical director of all the group"s Bordeaux estates.
His new role will allow him to focus more on managing only two châteaux, Château Lafite in the first growth and Château Duhamelon in the fourth.
The move was made so that Kohler could devote more time and energy to the details of the winery, both of which are now turning to organic viticulture.
The Rothschild (Lafite) group has appointed Olivier Trgoat as technical director of Château Pomerol-le-Wangie and is in the process of recruiting a new technical manager for the estate.
In addition to his work at Le Wangji, Tregoat will also be in charge of Château La Phyllis and Château Caissa Paradise.
