Liv-ex is the world"s most authoritative marketplace for fine wine, and every once in a while it releases a new Fine Wine Index, which has become the leading indicator of the fine wine market.
This one-week trading report from Liv-ex shows that the total value of Liv-ex bids (£30.2m) and offers (£51.5m) rose by a further 2.1% from the £80m record at the beginning of November. With Christmas approaching, this is the second consecutive week of record high trading.
On the other hand, the Liv-ex 100* is up 3.8% year-to-date, outperforming the FTSE100, DAX and Hang Seng, and is very stable, fluctuating by only 1.5% per month.
The index shows that fine wines have been relatively stable amid market turmoil, which Liv-ex says explains the growing interest in fine wines among buyers.
