In May, Kelly Milo launched her own eponymous wine brand in an exclusive partnership with London distributor Benchmark Drinks. Milo has now partnered with two of Australia"s most prestigious wineries to launch the new wine brand.
In an exclusive interview with WineBiz.com, Benchmark's Paul Schaafsma said that as a proud Australian, Kylie has been determined to include Australian wines in her private label range, not only to reflect her birthplace, but also to support the local wine industry.
Paul Schaafsma said: We agreed to find a style she liked by tasting the wines and working with the winemaker to find a blend. She has a great palate. She's honest about where she'll start in the wine industry, but she knows what she likes, what kind of taste and style she wants, and it's an absolute pleasure to work with her.
According to Schaafsma, the Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, which will be released later this year, has more of a personal connection, as it was designed for Kylie's parents, who live in Victoria.
He explains:Her dad really likes Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley, so she wanted to make a wine for her parents.
This wine is made by De Pauli Winery and the famous winemaker Steve Weber.
As reported by Wine Drink Business in August, two other wines are planned for the Kellie line, an aged Sauvignon Blanc from Gascony and a Merlot from the Pays d'Oc.
