Coinciding with the launch of the paper edition of the guide, we will also reveal the wines that will finally win the Rookie Award. After much thought and confirmation, we have awarded the Rookie Award to Pepe Mendoza Gir de Abargues 2018, a wine from one of the most important winemakers in the eastern Iberian Peninsula, Pepe Mendoza, a wine of great personality that gives us a complete picture of the uniqueness of the Giro grape (Gir). The tasting team found all five wines to be highly disruptive: Guix Vermell Negre 2019, made from 100% Grenache (Garnacha) from the latest harvest of 2019, yet capable of showing great complexity.

Primera Vinya Les Brugueres 2018 is a white wine made from Grenache Blanc, which stands out for its expressiveness and high quality in Priolato, a land of red wines.

In the case of Las Loberas 2018, it is not just a great wine, it represents a series of great works done by the winery together with the fledgling D.O.P. Cebreros.

The tasting team highlighted in particular the uniqueness of Tierra Fundida 1/1 2017 and recognized the work of this small family winery from the Canary Islands, which perfectly blends the characteristic local grapes Negramoll, Castellana Negra and Verdello.

The last wine is the Suertes del Marqus Fortificado, with which the winery wishes to pay tribute to the classic wines of Tenerife, learning from the spirit of the ancient wine producers, who worked as hard as they did.
