Launched in 2017, Penfolds g3 is a blend of three different Grange vintages: 2008, 2012 and 2014. Peter Gago, Penfolds" head winemaker, has followed the philosophy of g3, but has innovated on the original concept by blending four different vintages of Grange to create g4.

Commenting on the new g4, Peter Gago said: "The four Grands Crus used to make the g4 are almost our favourite vintages of the last 20 years. Each vintage is classic and distinctive, reflecting the terroir of the year in which it was made and surprising on every level, bringing natural flavors and layers of complexity to the g4, the 2002 Grange was bred in a cool climate and has a clear and fluid structure; the 2004 Grange is even more magnificent; and the 2008 Grange has been featured in Wine Spectator. The 2008 Grange was awarded a perfect score by Wine Spectator and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate magazine for its magnificence and fullness, and the recently released 2016 Grange is the final piece of the puzzle, bringing freshness, texture and flavor to this innovative masterpiece, showing the exceptional effect of blending several classic vintages.

Penfolds g4 is limited to 2,500 bottles worldwide, with a suggested retail price of RMB 23,888 per bottle, and has been released in China on September 16, 2020.
