Kathleen Heitz-Myers, former owner of Hertz Winery in Napa Valley, said: "I felt it was time to help Hertz Winery find new owners, and when I first met with Gaylon Lawrence, I knew he was the right person for the job. The Lawrence family has a lot of experience in the wine industry, so this winery will be in a much better position when they buy Hertz.

Hertz Winery was founded in 1961 by Joe Heitz, who was the owner of Hertz Winery for over 30 years. It was only after his death in 2000 that his sons took over the reins, with David Heitz as Heitz's chief winemaker and Kathleen Heitz-Meyers as Heitz's chief executive officer.

Following Gaylon Lawrence's acquisition of Hertz Winery, he has appointed wine industry expert Robert Boyd to the position of chairman and CEO of the winery. Previously Robert Boyd worked at Kendall Jackson Winery and Joseph Phelps Winery.
