This Pinot Noir is made from grapes from the 2018 vintage, sourced from Oregon"s Chehalem Mountain region and crafted by Adelaide winemaker Gina Hennen. It will be available for purchase on September 15.
The athlete wrote on Instagram on Friday, June 26: Years of preparation and work have given a lot of meaning to this wine and I would like to thank all those who have helped me.
McCollum oversees wine label and logo design, packaging decisions, marketing and communications, and also works with winemaker Hennen during the blending process, who helps him further refine his taste preferences based on the brand's website.
With the introduction of the McCollum Heritage 91 Pinot Noir, I hope basketball fans and wine lovers alike will appreciate this bottle as much as I did in bringing it to them.
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were hand-picked, destemmed, then cold macerated in iron vats for 5 days, followed by 10 days of fermentation. The wine is stored in French oak barrels for 10 months before bottling.
The wine will be sold through the brand's website and will retail for $50 per bottle. McCollum plans to release additional vintages of McCollum Heritage 91 by spring 2021.
