The D.O. Montilla-Moriles appellation (D.O. Montilla-Moriles) has just finished celebrating the harvest season, and the Agricultural Organization of Córdoba (Asaja Crdoba) noted after the event that sales in the D.O. Montilla-Moriles were down about 12% compared to last year, but much better than previously expected (a 30% drop was expected).

Juan Manuel Centella, head of the production area"s supervisory board, pointed out that the drop in sales was mainly due to the fall in wine prices, which were lowered this year because there was a lot of uncertainty and also because we made a very pessimistic market forecast.
This year, the Montillais appellation experienced a drop in grape production, with the white grape harvest down 10% from last year to 35.9 million kilograms, down from 38.8 million kilograms the previous year; the red grape harvest was down even more, with a final harvest of 2 million kilograms this year, down 40% from the previous year. Despite the concerns expressed by the Appellation Supervisory Board about the drop in production, the quality of the grapes was excellent this year.
