Liv-ex Releases Liv-ex 100 Top Wine Brands for 2020

Liv-ex, in partnership with The Drinks Business, has released its fifteenth annual list of the Liv-ex 100 strongest brands in the premium wine market each year.

The main results are as follows.

For the third year in a row, Domaine Leroy ranked in the top five overall and in the top 50 in almost all sub-categories (except for number of transactions only).

The market expanded further, from 996 brands and 6,367 wines in FY2019 to 1,420 brands and 8,735 wines in FY2020.

Italy is the biggest winner of this year"s Top 100, with nine more brands on the list, for a total of 17; halving the number of brands on the list in Burgundy.

First Growths First Growths have declined in performance since FY 2019, with only one brand, Haut Brion, still in the top 10 Price performance is their biggest weakness.

The distribution of the total value of transactions by wine region changed significantly during the year, with Bordeaux and Burgundy losing share; Italy, Champagne and the rest of the world gaining share.

The wine regions that rose the most on the 100 strongest rankings were Italy and the rest of the world (USA, Australia and Germany); the four Super Tuscan Super Tuscans brands reached new heights.
