China Fund News, Oct. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Greene King, the U.K.'s largest pub operator owned by the Li Ka-shing family, has announced that it will now temporarily close 79 sites, about a third of which are expected to close permanently, while cutting nearly 800 jobs.

This means that Greene King will permanently close 25 bars.
According to the information, Greene King was founded in 1799 by 19-year-old Benjamin Greene. The chain is now a leading pub retailer and brewer in the UK, with more than 3,100 pubs, restaurants and hotels in England, Wales and Scotland.In late August 2019, Li Ka-shing"s Cheung Kong Group acquired Greene King for 4.6 billion pounds (about HK$43 billion, 39.3 billion yuan).
