According to The Drink Business, as January's sobriety campaign (Dry January) passes the halfway mark and the third UK lockdown takes place for 10 days, alcohol sales in the UK are soaring, with weekly wine sales at high-end UK supermarket chain Waitrose up by a third compared to last year.

As of Jan. 6, 2.7 million Britons had given up their January sobriety plans. Online alcohol sales have also skyrocketed, partly because people are staying home as much as possible and drinking more than usual.
