James Lawther MW Bordeaux 2019 scores released

The first James Lawther MW Bordeaux 2019 scores are available on JancisRobinson.com. Lawther will taste the Left Bank wines next week before posting his overall assessment of the vintage.

Jancis Robinson declined to taste en primeur samples this year.

As shown in the table above, Figeac was the wine that achieved the highest Lawther score, rated as elegant and restrained, a classic Figeac The quality was better than the 2015 and 2018 vintages, and on par with the 2016 vintage.

Lawther mentions that the wine is 14.1% alcohol and therefore exempt from the 25% US duty.

Lawther also had nothing but praise for the Admiralty Angelus, calling it the most exquisite Admiralty I"ve ever tasted. Each bottle was released by the former wine merchant at €230, down 8.7% from the 2018 release price (€252).

The white horse Cheval Blanc, on the other hand, scored Lawther 18 points, rating it as a superb white horse, but perhaps slightly inferior to the 2018 vintage.
