Italian bulk wine price data for January-July 2020 is out

Recently, Ismea, the Italian Institute of Agri-Food Market Services, released a data on the prices of Italian bulk wines from January to July 2020. Overall, prices are falling, but there is no shortage of brands that have seen significant price increases.

Harvesting has already begun in the Italian regions, with the first earliest varieties in Sicily and Franciacorta.

The second is the data on bulk wine prices. While the impact of the New Crown pandemic on the wine industry is clear in terms of consumption in Italy and worldwide, the situation will depend on the price of bulk wines.

According to Ismea, overall, IGT wine prices fell by 3% and PDO wine prices fell by 5% over the 2019-2020 year. However, a comparison of the average producer prices (excluding VAT and ex-factory) recorded by Ismea for January-July 2019 with the same period in 2020 shows that the performance varies between the different wine vintages.
