International Wine and Spirits Institute acquires Wine Intelligence

Beverage market analysts International Wine & Spirits Institute has acquired London-based wine consumer research and insight specialist Wine Intelligence for an unspecified sum.

Lulie Hasltead, CEO of Wine Intelligence Agency, aims to build a world-class beverage data and consumer insight service with the International Wine & Spirits Institute after the acquisition.

Wine Intelligence was founded in 2002 and represents wine companies in more than 35 wine markets around the world.

With the acquisition of the company, the goal of the International Wine & Spirits Institute is to create a world-class consumer behavior division focused exclusively on the global beverage industry.

Mark Meek, CEO of the International Wine & Spirits Institute, said: "As the Newcastle pneumonia outbreak reshapes consumer behavior and beverage drinking occasions, industry stakeholders are seeking a deeper understanding of the consumer attitudes that drive the market.

He added: Our vision is shaped by our customers and this acquisition is a tremendous opportunity for us to expand our existing products and work with the Wine Intelligence Agency team to provide comprehensive consumer insights for the industry, including all categories of the beverage industry beer, wine, spirits and wine industry,

The acquisition is the result of a decade-long collaboration between the International Wine and Spirits Institute and Wine Intelligence.
