Last month"s excavations around Ortan Cathedral led to the discovery of more than 200 burials, some dating back to the Gallic-Roman period, including the tomb of Lorraine, which has been lost since the 18th century.
Rolin was Chancellor of Duke Philip of Burgundy in the 1540s. He and his wife, Gigone de Salins, were so wealthy that he founded the House of the Poor of Bern in 1443 and established the first vineyards.
