Freeman Wines has taken over the distribution of South Africa"s Marinello Estate wines from major UK wholesaler Fileds, Morris Verdin. The Fileds, Morris Verdin portfolio is being spun off as its own business is scaled back (a statement is expected early next week).
This brand of wine will be available through Freeman Wines from the end of September.
Chris and Andrea Mullineux founded Marino Winery in 2007, known for its single terroir of Chenin Blanc and Syrah from Swartland, the Kloof Street range is made with grapes from the region and their Sweet Straw is considered one of the best wines in South Africa.
In 2013, they collaborated with Analjit Singh on a new project in Franschhoek called Leeu Passant, where they are using some of the oldest vines grown in the Cape Town area, such as the Shenandoah planted near Wellington in 1900.
David Gleave, Managing Director of Freeman Wines, says:It's not for nothing that Mullineux is one of the most acclaimed wineries in South Africa. In short, Chris and Andrea Mullineux are producers of quality wines that are fresh and vibrant, reflecting both varietal and provenance. We are delighted to be able to offer them to our customers.
