The official website of the European Commission recently announced. The EC released the EU wine policy assessment report. The report shows that wine policy plays a key role in the transformation of the wine industry in terms of innovation and quality.

The EU is the world"s largest producer, consumer and exporter of wine, and in recent years there has been an increase in demand both within and outside the Union for quality wines with geographical indication protection and environmentally friendly production, as well as for lower-quality wines.The EU wine policy reform launched in 2013 aims to ensure the quality and safety of wine production, improve marketing conditions, enhance the added value and competitiveness of the wine sector, and safeguard the international reputation of EU wines. The report assesses that the wine policy is fully in line with the EU's economic, social and common agricultural policy objectives.
