Dr. Michele Allan has been appointed as the new president of Wine Australia for a three-year term effective July 4, according to Australian news site AuManufacturing.

Dr. Michele Allan, an expert in food and agribusiness, will succeed Catherine Oates, who has served as acting chair since April 4, as the organization"s new chair.
In response, the agency's Minister for Agriculture, David Littleproud, said in a statement: "Dr. Allan's extensive skills and experience will ensure that our world-renowned wine industry remains competitive and productive on a global scale.
She has a deep understanding of agribusiness, public policy and regulation within the food and agriculture industry, R&D portfolio structure and management, enterprise risk management, and science and innovation.
Dr Allan will play a key role in overseeing the growing overseas demand for Australian wine and promoting Australian wine internationally as the safest, most sustainable and highest quality wine in the world.
