According to The Drink Business, as harvesting began in the Champagne region on August 18 local time, the appellation announced that it would drastically cut production for 2020 to 8,000 kg/ha, equivalent to 230 million bottles.

This is a significant drop for the average yield of the Champagne appellation, which typically averages around 10,800 kg/ha, enough to produce around 315 million bottles of wine, with last year"s production set at 10,200 kg/ha, equivalent to 300 million bottles of wine.
