The Museum of Natural Sciences of Granollers (MCNG), the Delta de l'Ebre Nature Park and the Celler Credo winery have launched an initiative that wants consumers to use wine boxes to provide artificial roosts for bats.

Celler Credo will make special wine boxes and sell three bottles of its dry white wines Ratpenat, Voliaina and Miranius, with the hope that customers will buy the wines and hang the boxes in their homes or on the streets, both in rural and urban areas, to study bat ecological communities and contribute to the MCNG"s bat surveillance program. The project will help the MCNG's bat surveillance program.
It's a box that can hold three bottles of wine and can easily accommodate 50 to 70 female bats, said Flaquer, coordinator of the project at the Granollers Museum of Natural Sciences.
