In the 20th Agrocanarias Wine Competition, organized by the Canary Institute of Food Quality (ICCA), a subsidiary of the Canary Islands Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, the aromatic white sweet wine Brumas de Ayosa Malvasa from the Guemar Valley Appellation (D.O. Valle de Gimar, Tenerife) was selected as Best Wine of the Canary Islands 2020.

In his speech, the director of the ICCA emphasized that they have always been committed to promoting products with regional characteristics and differentiation, and that the Agrocanarias competition is an important event to promote wines with local characteristics, all of which originate from the efforts of winemakers and winegrowers and reflect the local landscape, terroir, indigenous grape varieties and unique viticultural techniques. A total of 173 wines from 11 regions of the Canary Islands were selected for this year"s competition.
