The couple was cleaning the exterior of the 105-year-old house when they found whiskey wrapped in straw and paper.
They eventually found a total of 66 bottles of smuggled wine from 1923 in the house, about 15 of which were full. The auction house believes the bottles sold for between $500 and $1,000 (3,200 and 6,500 yuan) each.
