It is unclear whether an offer has been formally made to Treasury Wine Estates. In April, Cognac revealed that it was considering splitting its most popular wine brand, Penfolds, into a separate public company by the end of 2021.
Tattarang is understood to be the privately owned holding company of the Forrest family and one of the largest private investment groups in Australia to date. Owned by Australian mining magnate Andrew Forrest and his wife Nicola, the company has expressed interest in investing in Australian businesses to expand its national and community reach.
