By merging the DAWA into the DWWA, Decanter will invest more resources into further expanding the reach of this global event and promoting its long-term solid growth.

The merger of the events will give DWWA participants more excellent opportunities to develop new markets and increase brand awareness.

The Asian marketing campaign, which originally invited only the winners of the Asian competition, will also be fully open to all participants who have won medals in the World Competition.

These include DWWA-themed tastings, cooperative promotion programs with Asian retailers, and various events with senior expert judges from Asian competitions.

In addition, Decanter, as an international media platform, will devote more reporting resources to keep its finger on the pulse of this important market in Asia.

With this, the Decanter World Wine Awards will further establish itself as the leading international wine competition, continuing to spread its influence to the widest possible consumer market worldwide.

Founded in 1974, Decanter magazine is the world"s leading wine media brand, and the strong trust it has built with consumers and industry professionals around the world is what sets the DWWA apart from other wine events.

To cater to the needs of the booming Asian market, the Decanter Asian Wine Competition was held for the first time in 2012 as a sister event to the DWWA.

With Hong Kong as the host venue, the Asia Competition has grown fully into the most prestigious and trusted wine competition in Asia with a total of eight editions as of 2019.

In 2020, Decanter had to cancel the Asian event due to the outbreak of the New Crown epidemic, and the organizing team went full steam ahead with the preparation and hosting of the World Competition. Because of this, the 2020 DWWA has received far more global attention than ever before, and has had the opportunity to work with premium distribution channels in Asia to promote the winning wines of the DWWA 2020.

Paul Newman, Decanter's new Managing Director, said: "The Decanter World Wine Awards is the largest and most prestigious wine event in the world and its international reach needs no introduction. Asia is one of the fastest growing wine markets in the world and the decision to merge the DAWA into the DWWA will facilitate even stronger growth of the Decanter event brand.
