The Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini (IMT) says that the two regions of the Verdicchio wine region produce only a tenth of the wine produced in Castelli di Jesi, but that the Verdicchio Riserva is more popular than the Castelli di Jesi. In terms of Verdicchio Riserva, however, the Madelica region sells more than the Jesi region.
The quality of the wines of the Matelika appellation is already widely recognized by the industry, so the renaming of the appellation will help to make the two appellations of the Matelika region more recognizable and to promote them more effectively.
